Everyone is invited to participate in the Great Road Trip. You can drive the 2CV, ride in the car as a passenger, or ride along in your own car for all or part of a leg of the trip. Priority will be given to KD sufferers and their family members as well as researchers and clinicians engaged in research or patient care. Citroen enthusiasts, many of whom have helped with the planning effort, are most welcome.
This particular 2CV was built to British specifications. It is a right-hand drive car with manual transmission. The foot pedals are in the same location as in a left-hand drive car with manual transmission, but -- uniquely -- the gear shift is in the dash. There is a video with instructions about how to drive the 2CV, and anyone interested in driving the car may want to review this video ahead of time.
Darren Arthur, the mechanic who rebuilt the car, will be in (or with) the car for the entire journey and will provide on-the-spot instruction to anyone interested in driving. A 2CV specialist with his own shop in the UK, Darren will also be able to handle any mechanical issues that may arise.
There is no cost to drive or ride in the 2CV. We do ask that anyone who drives or rides in the car provide their own transportation to or from the endpoint of the leg or partial leg they travel.
